The accounting database is the core of the business support system of telecom carriers as it is responsible for data synchronization, top-up payment and billing records of hundreds of millions of subscriber. With the large-scale implementation of 5G services, the billing system has increasingly high requirements for the database's guaranteed capability of high availability under high concurrency. This time, AntDB helped a provincial devision of China Mobile to complete the independent and controllable transformation of the core database which is hard to implement but has high complexity and significant effect on business. Since the day it was put into operation, the system performance was significantly improved and stable operation for nearly a year.

The application background

AntDB, as a pioneer among domestic databases, relying on AsiaInfo's 15 years of deep experience in the carrier field and profound accumulation of carrier business technology, serves over 1 billion subscribers nationwide, with product features such as high performance, elastic scalability, high reliability, etc., which enable it to handle millions of core telecom transactions per second at peak. A general manager of the information system operation department of China Mobile in one province said that a key to choosing the type of core system was that it has the efficiency of an in-memory database and the scalability of a distributed database, as well as a high-availability design, which was also the reason why AntDB databse was chosen.

Application effectiveness of AntDB in the industry

According to the characteristics and business focus of the customer's accounting system, AntDB database team designed a customized database transformation implementation plan. The transformed business system and the existing network system ran simultaneously. During the parallel period, the AntDB database team and the enterprise field personnel compared the operation results and carried out 4 rounds of static reconciliation, 5 rounds of simulated outgoing reconciliation and 5 rounds of parallel monthly accounts, and the operation results were completely consistent with the existing network system.

On the day the system went online, it supported business acceptance nearly 100 million times and business changes millions of times; in the case that system interface time consumption was nearly the same as before the cutover, the number of single node connections was increased from 8000 to 100000; since the cutover, the accounting system had 0 failures and 0 complaints from users. The overall efficiency of billing has increased by 30%, and the number of single-point connections has increased by 12 times.

According to a relevent person of China Mobile in one province, AsiaInfo’s solution perfectly meets the “telecom-level”business requirement and improves their business security significantly,which underpins the large-scale expansion of 5G business in China to a large degree.
