After a multi-judging process, AntDB won the Award with its 15 years of accumulation in the telecom carrier industry and recent implementation cases in finance, energy, transportation and other industries.

AntDB started in 2008. On the core system of operators, AntDB provides online services for more than 1 billion users in 24 provinces across the country. With product features such as high performance, elastic expansion and high reliability, AntDB can process one million core communications transactions per second at peak, ensuring the continuous and stable operation of the system for over ten years, and is successfully implemented for commercial purpose in communication, finance, transportation, energy, Internet of Things and other industries.

After 15 years of polishing in the core systems of communication carriers, AntDB has the following four distinctive features:

AntDB is one of the earliest database products born in production environment in China

Established at the beginning of the 21st century, the AntDB team of AsiaInfo has nearly 20 years of database R&D and service experience, and is one of the earliest domestic database teams in China. During the evolution of communication technology from 2G to 3G, the team has continuously promoted the update and iteration of AntDB based on new application scenarios and cutting-edge database technology, providing advanced database products and services for communication operators and other industry customers.

Around 2005, cell phones slowly transitioned from "phone only" to 2G and 3G smartphone era. For domestic operators, who need to serve the world's largest population, business pressure and data volume are exploding, but the traditional database products bred by the European and American markets are not well suited to meet such volume of data management needs, which forced AsiaInfo, as an operator partner, to embark on the road of independent research and development of a large amount of basic software (including database, middleware, etc.).

In 2008, after more than 3 years of hard work, AsiaInfo introduced a self-developed in-memory database engine into the core billing and accounting system, which requires high performance and data security, so that the core transaction system of China's telecommunications industry can perfectly support the data processing needs of the growing number of end users.

As we can see, AntDB was at the peak of its debut, and it was directly applied to the most critical and core business system in the communication industry as soon as it was born, bearing the management need of world's largest volume of communication data, so the concurrency, high performance, high stability and high security of the product are at the leading level in the industry from the moment it was born.

AntDB always leads in the forefront of database technology

Around 2012, AntDB took the lead in adapting multiple SQL engines, supporting both PostgreSQL and MySQL parser, and started the research and development of Oracle compatibility in order to meet the diversified needs of various business systems in each province for databases. In 2015, AntDB started the research and development of distributed database, and launched a distributed database execution engine that supported both pure memory and traditional disk storage by using Raft voting mechanism, 2PC distributed transaction mechanism and other technical solutions.

In mid-2022, AntDB released the latest version 7.0, with the interface layer supporting MySQL, PostgreSQL and Oracle-compatible capabilities; the storage engine also supports both in-memory and traditional disk library engines; users can choose between centralized independent deployment or clustered distributed deployment; meanwhile, in terms of business, it can be used both as a core transactional database with high concurrency and high performance, and as a general-purpose HTAP-oriented transaction-analysis hybrid distributed database.

On December 28, 2022, AntDB once again leads the development of database technology - releasing a new generation of hyper-converged streaming engine to create a new era of distributed database. In the overall architecture, AntDB puts forward a new "hyper-convergence" concept, which integrates multiple engines and capabilities to meet enterprises’ increasingly complex needs of mixed load scenarios and mixed data type business; at the same time, to meet the increasingly demanding requirements of users for "real-time", AntDB integrates stream computing and database from the kernel level through the original "streaming processing engine" to meet the needs of real-time processing scenarios such as real-time business analysis and real-time reporting, as well as the needs of asynchronous transaction scenarios such as Internet+.

Because it has been applied in the core system of communication operators, the AntDB team has a different sensitivity to the upcoming needs of scenarios brought by technology development, and is able to develop database technology based on the future scenarios with foresight and lead the industry development, so it can be said that AntDB has been at the forefront of database technology for so many years.
